Josh Hallmark: Moderator
Josh Hallmark is a podcast host and freelance writer, with a rich history in branding and digital marketing. He launched his first podcast, Our Americana, in June of 2016 after spending six months living out of a van and getting to know America. It started as a celebration of Small Town America, and evolved into a look at community in America. In 2017, he launched The Karen & Ellen Letters, which follows found correspondence between a landlord and his two outrageous tenants in the 1980s, and the mystery of finding out who these people were. He is also the producer of #2PodsADay, a quarterly campaign aimed to spread the joy of podcasts, while promoting smaller, independent podcasters.
Sarah Rhea Werner is a professional writer and podcaster who loves to help creators find confidence and success. She is a contributor to Forbes, and creator of the Girl In Space and Write Now podcasts. She currently lives in the Midwest with one husband, two rescue cats, and a ceiling full of spiders.
Adela is the founder of Podcast Brunch Club (PBC), which is like a book club, but for podcasts. PBC is a global community of avid podcast listeners with 50+ local chapters on 5 continents now and growing rapidly. Every month, a thematic podcast listening list is curated and chapters meet in person in cities around the world to discuss. PBC is truly a listener movement. When she’s not growing the PBC community, Adela is always looking for new ways to explore the world. She’s traveled all over the globe, filling her passport once and living in Ethiopia for a year. She considers herself a lifelong learner and describes herself as “a jack of all trades, master of none, but always trying.” Her passions include podcasts, real estate (she and her husband flip houses), education, and travel.
Before Wine & Crime, Kenyon was a gender-based violence researcher and consultant. Which is basically a more academic way of saying she is one helluva Nasty Woman. Almost kicked out of a book club once for being slightly too obsessed with Ann Rule and Ted Bundy, Kenyon’s love of true crime cannot be tamed. You will often find her enjoying a glass of pinotage, bingeing on podcasts, and insisting “the husband did it.”
The Engagement Panel Discussion
Title: Engaging and Leveraging Your Audience
Listener engagement is the emotional connection between your listeners and your podcast. Highly engaged listeners listen more, promote more, buy more, and demonstrate more loyalty. Building an audience is key to producing a popular show; building an engaged audience is the key to producing a viable show. This panel of podcasters will discuss creating a culture of engagement through social media, content creation, and in-person communications; and how to leverage that engagement to better market and monetize your show.
